  ACUTE HAZARDS PREVENTION FIRE FIGHTING
FIRE & EXPLOSION Combustible. Gives off irritating or toxic fumes (or gases) in a fire.  Finely dispersed particles form explosive mixtures in air.  NO open flames.  Prevent deposition of dust. Closed system, dust explosion-proof electrical equipment and lighting.  Use water spray, foam, powder, carbon dioxide.   

 PREVENT DISPERSION OF DUST! STRICT HYGIENE! IN ALL CASES CONSULT A DOCTOR! 
  SYMPTOMS PREVENTION FIRST AID
Inhalation Cough. Blue lips, fingernails and skin. Dizziness. Headache.  Use ventilation, local exhaust or breathing protection.  Fresh air, rest. Refer for medical attention. 
Skin MAY BE ABSORBED! Further see Inhalation.  Protective gloves. Protective clothing.  Remove contaminated clothes. Rinse and then wash skin with water and soap. 
Eyes Redness.  Wear face shield or eye protection in combination with breathing protection.  Rinse with plenty of water (remove contact lenses if easily possible). 
Ingestion Nausea. Further see Inhalation.  Do not eat, drink, or smoke during work. Wash hands before eating.  Rinse mouth. Give one or two glasses of water to drink. Refer for medical attention . 

SPILLAGE DISPOSAL CLASSIFICATION & LABELLING
Personal protection: filter respirator for organic gases and particulates adapted to the airborne concentration of the substance. Do NOT let this chemical enter the environment. Sweep spilled substance into covered containers. If appropriate, moisten first to prevent dusting. Then store and dispose of according to local regulations.

COLOURLESS-TO-BROWN CRYSTALS WITH CHARACTERISTIC ODOUR. 

Physical dangers
As a result of flow, agitation, etc., electrostatic charges can be generated. Dust explosion possible if in powder or granular form, mixed with air. 

Chemical dangers
Decomposes on burning. This produces toxic fumes including nitrogen oxides. The solution in water is a weak base. Reacts with acids, chloroformates and strong oxidants. Attacks some coatings, some forms of plastic and rubber.

EXPOSURE & HEALTH EFFECTS

Routes of exposure
The substance can be absorbed into the body by inhalation of its vapour, through the skin and by ingestion. 

Effects of short-term exposure
The aerosol is irritating to the eyes and respiratory tract. The substance may cause effects on the blood. This may result in the formation of methaemoglobin. Medical observation is indicated. See Notes. 

Inhalation risk
A harmful contamination of the air will be reached rather slowly on evaporation of this substance at 20°C; on spraying or dispersing, however, much faster. 

Effects of long-term or repeated exposure
The substance may have effects on the blood. This may result in the formation of methaemoglobin and anaemia.

ENVIRONMENT
The substance is toxic to aquatic organisms. It is strongly advised not to let the chemical enter into the environment.

Specific treatment is necessary in case of poisoning with this substance; the appropriate means with instructions must be available.
