  ACUTE HAZARDS PREVENTION FIRE FIGHTING
FIRE & EXPLOSION Not combustible but enhances combustion of other substances. Gives off irritating or toxic fumes (or gases) in a fire.  Risk of fire and explosion on contact with strong reducing agents, strong bases, ammonia, urea or water.  NO contact with flammables. NO contact with strong reducing agents, strong bases, ammonia, urea or water.    Use water in large amounts, powder, alcohol-resistant foam, carbon dioxide.  In case of fire: keep drums, etc., cool by spraying with water. NO direct contact with water.

PREVENT DISPERSION OF DUST! STRICT HYGIENE!
  SYMPTOMS PREVENTION FIRST AID
Inhalation Cough. Sore throat.  Use local exhaust or breathing protection.  Fresh air, rest.
Skin Redness. Skin burns. Pain.  Protective gloves. Protective clothing.  Remove contaminated clothes. Rinse skin with plenty of water or shower. Refer for medical attention .
Eyes Redness. Pain. Loss of vision. Severe deep burns.  Wear face shield or eye protection in combination with breathing protection if powder.  First rinse with plenty of water for several minutes (remove contact lenses if easily possible), then refer for medical attention.
Ingestion Burning sensation. Sore throat.  Do not eat, drink, or smoke during work.  Rinse mouth. Do NOT induce vomiting. Rest. Refer for medical attention .

SPILLAGE DISPOSAL CLASSIFICATION & LABELLING
Evacuate danger area! Consult an expert! Personal protection: complete protective clothing including self-contained breathing apparatus. Do NOT wash away into sewer. Sweep spilled substance into covered dry containers. Carefully collect remainder. Then store and dispose of according to local regulations. Do NOT absorb in saw-dust or other combustible absorbents.

PHYSICAL & CHEMICAL INFORMATION

Physical State; Appearance
WHITE CRYSTALLINE POWDER WITH PUNGENT ODOUR.

Physical dangers

Chemical dangers
Decomposes on heating and on contact with water. This produces toxic fumes including chlorine. The substance is a strong oxidant. It reacts violently with combustible and reducing materials. Reacts violently with many substances. This generates fire and explosion hazard.

Formula: C3Cl2N3O3.Na
Molecular mass: 220.96
Decomposes at 230°C
Relative density (water = 1): >1
Solubility in water, g/100ml: 25

EXPOSURE & HEALTH EFFECTS

Routes of exposure
The substance can be absorbed into the body by inhalation of dust and by ingestion.

Effects of short-term exposure
The substance is irritating to the eyes, skin and respiratory tract. Corrosive on ingestion.

Inhalation risk
Evaporation at 20°C is negligible; a harmful concentration of airborne particles can, however, be reached quickly.

Effects of long-term or repeated exposure
Repeated or prolonged contact with skin may cause dermatitis.

OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE LIMITS

ENVIRONMENT
This substance may be hazardous to the environment. Special attention should be given to water quality.
