5. Summary of Data Reported and Evaluation

5.1 Animal data

Blue VRS is carcinogenic in rats following its subcutaneous or intramuscular injection; it produced sarcomas at the site of repeated injections.

5.2 Human data

No case reports or epidemiological studies were available to the Working Group.

Synonyms

Note: Some confusion exists in the classification of literature for blue VRS: that concerning the dye patent blue V (C.I. 42051, Acid blue 3) has been classified under 'blue VRS'.
