5. Summary of Data Reported and Evaluation
5.1 Animal carcinogenicity data
Purified o-tolidine is a systemic carcinogen in the rat when given
subcutaneously. The oral experiment in the rat is of doubtful
significance because of the small number of animals involved. In
feeding experiments, the commercial product failed to produce tumours
in hamsters.
5.2 Human carcinogenicity data
No epidemiological studies are available.
